Kids Teaching Kids Forum
The 2014 Target Kids Teaching Kids Forum, held at the Yea Wetlands, was another great day for all involved.
Students from 9 schools across the shire met to share their environmental stories. Although the weather was a little unpredictable, the sun shone through the clouds just when it was required!
All students represented their schools with pride.
With a theme of ‘paddock to plate’, each school chose an environmental focus that offered an opportunity to make a positive difference for their future.
Topics included; ‘Fresh is best – Grow your own food’, Aquaponics, ‘The Life of Bees’, ‘How to build your own worm farm’, ‘Vegies, chooks and eggs’, “How did this food get on my plate?’ ‘Paddock, Pond, Patch’, ‘Frog Bog’ and ‘the Garbage game show’.
Workshop presentations included science experiments, a quiz show, games, cooking, visual displays, drama and songs.
The atmosphere was buzzing with excitement, the students were empowered to share their environmental stories and our future is in great hands, if this forum is any indication!
The forum was coordinated by UGLN‘s Cath Olive and Helen Gough.
