UGLN Lorax Project 2015
The Upper Goulburn Landcare Networks revegetation ‘Lorax Project’ has finished for another year after a very successful year of tree planting throughout the Murrindindi Shire.
This year 294 volunteers from NAB, ANZ, JBWere, Carlton United Breweries, Price Waterhouse Coopers, Kevin Heinz Garden Centre, Yea High School, Flowerdale PS and Kinglake PS students, Kinglake, Flowerdale and Strath Creek Landcare Groups and the Kevin Heinz Garden Centre helped plant a total of 7720 indigenous plants.
Funding was provided by the State Governments Communities For Nature grant and we also had great support again from Fifteen Trees who were able to provide funds to purchase 1000 plants for our project.
We re-vegetated over 30 hectares of farmland and waterways on 23 properties at Strath Creek, Flowerdale, Kinglake, Glenburn, Limestone, Yea and Murrindindi.
The Lorax Project will continue in 2016 and thousands of seedlings are being grown as we speak in preparation for next years planting season.
Anyone interested in volunteering with our project in 2016 or landowners interested in getting tree planting carried out on their properties contact Chris Cobern on 5797 4404.
