Yea High School Junior Landcare Group has been incorporating nest box building into the woodwork curriculum for over 8 years.
The students are required to do all of the measuring and cutting of the various sized nest boxes, decorate them and also go out into the field onto public and private property and install the boxes under the supervision of teaching staff and UGLN Project Officer Chris Cobern.
The students also assist with tree planting for Landcare projects.
The school have also begun incorporating their patch to plate program with Landcare. Which means the Upper Goulburn Landcare Network are able to support the students to learn about growing local, fresh, healthy, sustainable food to be used in their home economics classes.
