Lorax Project – 5 Years and still going strong
The UGLN’s Lorax project is in to it’s 5th year and still going strong.
This year thanks to the efforts of our corporate volunteers especially NAB, JB Were and ANZ and with great support from the Kevin Heinz Garden Centre and Conservation & Land Management students from Franklin Scholar TAFE College.
So far this year 194 volunteers have planted almost 5000 plants on properties throughout the Upper Goulburn catchment.
Recently we had a team from ANZ that have been coming up annually since 2010. This year they braved the cold weather to plant on a farm in Murrindindi.
Also NAB volunteers did a great job planting along the Strath Creek.
The staff and workers from Kevin Heinz Garden Centre also put in another fantastic effort this time at a property in Kinglake West adjoining the Stony Creek. We also got to plant many of the plants they had grown for us at their nursery.
And the TAFE students had an enjoyable day with members of the Yea River Landcare Group planting along the Yea River.
