Green Army

UGLN Green Army Project

The Green Army have arrived in the Murrindindi Shire.

Over the next 6 months this group of young people from Strathewen, Tooborac, Yea and Alexandra will be working throughout the Upper Goulburn region on environmental restoration projects on public and private land.

The project is a partnership between Murrindindi Shire and UGLN and has been supported by the GBCMA as well as many of the landcare groups from within our network.

During their first few weeks they have been working at the Flowerdale Men’s Shed potting up thousands of seedlings for this seasons landcare revegetation projects. They also spent a few days along the King Parrot Creek eradicating broom, blackberry and the exotic elderberry and also removed old and hazardous fencing from a new revegetation site along the creek.

Over in Alexandra the team inspected nest boxes and found many Sugar Gliders occupying these artificial homes. They also removed barb wire from the Mt Pleasant Reserve fences and cut out woody weeds at this very significant bushland reserve; and along the UT Creek they have been spraying blackberry and cutting out suckering elms.

Thanks to the Kinglake Scout Group they were able to use the scout hall to build and paint 14 nest boxes for small native mammals and they have also been working at the Stony Creek Reserve in Kinglake West clearing the pathways through the reserve as well as removing woody weeds and the environmental weed Red Hot Pockers.

    Hello!

My name is Sarah and I’m the designer at Landcare Australia. Sara Dupressoir was showing me this thread and we noticed Flowerdale Landcare Group have mocked up a personalised logo in one of the photos. Landcare Australia actually creates personalised Landcare logos for Landcare groups so groups can have professional resources to publicise their work.

If you would like a personalised logo pack, I would be happy to create one for you. Just shoot me a bell at sarah.stevenson@landcareaustralia.com.au

Sorry to message here, I couldn’t find a direct email address or phone number on Google!

    Cheers guys,
    Sarah S
